The Joint, Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee Meetings

The Joint, Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee Meetings

The statutory Financial Management Code of Practice (FMCP) requires that an Audit Committee is established which is independent of both the Police Force and the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).

The Joint, Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee (JARAC) is a non-executive Committee and has no executive powers, other than those specifically detailed in the JARAC ToRs

The purpose of the JARAC is to provide independent assurance of the adequacy the following:

  • The risk management and the internal control framework operated by the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Chief Constable.
  • The effectiveness of their respective governance arrangements including providing for value for money services.
  • Appointment, support and keep under review the work of internal and external auditors as they provide assurance on risk management, internal controls and the annual accounts through their work.
  • The financial reporting process.

All JARAC members abide by the Code of Conduct and disclose any pecuninary interests (schedule A Disclosable Interests) .  JARAC members receive remuneration according to the JARAC Allowances Scheme.

The permanent JARAC meets four times a year, as below.  The agenda and associated reports for each meeting will be uploaded in the table below one week prior to the meeting date.
