Last year a tremendous amount of effort was expended regarding Hate Crime Awareness Week. It was a resounding success and I am seeking your support to ensure that this year we do even better.
As the Hate Crime Lead for the Association for Police and Crime Commissioners I would like to see everyone unite together to show our support against Hate Crime.
For this year, an event has been planned for Monday 15 October 2018, which I am calling ‘The Big Link-up’. I would like to have a show of unity between all my Police and Crime Commissioner colleagues, together with key partners, stakeholders, voluntary groups and especially the people of our local communities throughout our Counties, standing together to signify a united stance against hate crime.
To achieve this I would like for everyone to take to social media to post a photograph, either as a selfie, a group selfie, whilst holding the sign of support (if you have the ability to print it) which you can find a printable copy below, and saying a few words to show your support to the week.
The sign includes the hashtag that everyone should use throughout the week, which is #NO2HATE. It is hoped that this will trend on the Monday as people across the nation show their joint support.
I will be tweeting throughout the week about the five monitored Hate Crime strands for you to comment on and share with your contacts and friends so we can get the message out there that we will not tolerate Hate Crime in any form.
Make sure your printer is set up to print on the appropriate sized paper.
Below you can also download a Twitter banner you can use during the campaign to show your support.
