Hate Crime

Hate Crime can affect almost anyone and can have a devastating impact on people’s lives. It can destroy people’s confidence and tear apart communities.

Anyone can be targeted because of their race, religion, sexuality, disability or gender, or one of a range of other reasons. Whatever the motive and whatever form it takes, hate crime is not acceptable and I want to do what I can to stamp it out.

As Police and Crime Commissioner, part of my role is to listen to and understand communities, help protect those who are vulnerable and to ensure the support they need is provided and is accessible.

We know that Hate crime often goes unreported and this can make it difficult for us to understand the scale of the problem, know how to tackle it and what support people require.

I want to encourage people to notice, challenge, report and ultimately to stop hate crime.

Anyone who witnesses or is a victim of a hate incident related should contact the Police on 101, or via other Force contact details available here.

And don’t forget if you have been a victim of any kind of crime then information about support services for victims is available at www.core-derbyshire.co.uk
