The Police and Crime Commissioner has a statutory duty to consult and is responsible for engaging with communities to ensure that local people have an effective, independent voice for their communities. One way of achieving this has been the regular use of the Community Consultation Panel which gives local people a greater say in the way the county is policed.
Going forwards, consultation is managed through the Derbyshire Alert system which was previously provided by Derbyshire Police and has now been relaunched by Commissioner Dhindsa. All recipients of the system can be emailed consultation documentation, but also local crime information, details of upcoming PCC and Police events and a host of other information that may be of interest. However, if consultation information is all that is required then a recipient’s record can be amended to tailor the service to suit their needs.
The service is completely free so if you live or work in Derbyshire and would like to join, please sign up at www.derbyshirealert.co.uk.
