Police and Crime Plan
One of the Commissioner's first tasks was the publication of a Police and Crime Plan 2012-2017. The Plan sets out his Policing priorities for his term in office.
The Plan has now been finalised and can be accessed here.
Although it sets out plans until the next election in May 2016, it may be refreshed each year or changed at the PCC's discretion.
The Commissioner will hold the Chief Constable to account for delivering the plan efficiently and effectively. Its successful delivery is dependent on the need to ensure that the local communities receive a policing service that they are satisfied with and have trust and confidence in.
Speaking up for Victims
A major part of the PCC's role is consulting victims and speaking out for them, making sure their voice is heard in local policing.
From April 2013 the Commissioner has invited applications for the Crime Prevention Grant (the grant). The grant is aimed at Public Sector, Community Groups, Third Sector and Charitable Organisations, who can apply for funds to assist in their work to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, protect victims and the vulnerable and support witnesses. For further information on the grants, you can view the Crime Prevention Grants page.
More details of his duties with regard to victims can be seen on the Home Office website.
