Statement from Hardyal Dhindsa following incidents in Normanton, Derby

Following an incident on Normanton Road, in Derby, the police have received further information to link this to another incident at the Guru Arjen Dev Sikh Gurdwara on Stanhope Street, Normanton, Derby.

Hardyal Dhindsa, Derbyshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, said: “I have spoken to the police and am assured that matters are well in hand and a man has been arrested.

“Incidents such as this understandably cause concern in communities, and like many local residents I too am shocked to hear that the Gurdwara was broken into.

“Officers remain in the area which I hope reassures the local community. 

“I have been contacted by local community representatives and we all urge people to remain calm and continue to provide the police with any information they have on these incidents.”
