Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa will formally propose Peter Goodman QPM as the next Chief Constable for Derbyshire Constabulary at a Confirmation Hearing arranged by the Police and Crime Panel.
The meeting, which takes place at County Hall, Matlock, on Thursday, 13 April, starting at 1pm, is open to the press and public. More information about the content of the hearing can be found here.
Members of the press wishing to interview Mr Goodman should be aware that until the Panel has confirmed its approval of the appointment no interviews can be given.
Therefore any member of the press wishing to arrange an interview with Mr Goodman, should the Panel confirm the appointment, is invited to contact Sallie Blair on 01283 821012 in the first instance.
The Hearing will see the Commissioner will present a report to the panel, covering the recruitment process leading to his recommendation. The Panel will then be able to question Mr Goodman before reporting its conclusions to the Commissioner. It does, if it is unhappy with the proposal, have the power to veto the appointment with a majority of two-thirds.
The Hearing is the culmination of a robust recruitment process started earlier this year following the announcement that the current Chief Constable Mick Creedon will retire in May.
