Derbyshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa will join officers from Derbyshire Police for the launch of the county’s new Rural Crime Team.
The event will take place at 10am on Monday (March 13) at Bakewell Farmers Market in Bakewell where details of the new team’s responsibilities and duties will be revealed.
The development of a dedicated rural crime taskforce follows a pledge by the Commissioner to enhance policing resources for rural communities in a bid to increase safety and protect livelihoods.
Mr Dhindsa said: “I’m looking forward to launching this exciting new resource for fighting rural crime in Derbyshire which will help to tackle the offences that threaten the quality of life and indeed prosperity in our countryside.”
