Aldercar and Langley Mill children's project impresses Deputy Commissioner

Hardyal Dhindsa at Aldercar Community College

Young people, coaches and volunteers involved in a vibrant project that provides activities to children in Aldercar and Langley Mill have greatly impressed Derbyshire’s Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa.

The Deputy Commissioner met Sheena Trower, one of the organisers of the Aldercar & Langley Mill Children’s Activities Scheme which is provided by Langley Mill Community Group, and some young beneficiaries of the scheme.

Having seen for himself what the scheme provides, Mr Dhindsa commented: “I was delighted to see the valuable skills and leisure opportunities this project offers to youngsters in the area.

“I feel very strongly that more schemes like this will help to draw young people towards the benefits of participating in activities that, at the same time, help to keep youngsters busy and out of trouble.”

Other Derbyshire projects that share the same aims include OzBox Allenton Boxing Academy – a scheme that is run for young people by volunteer off duty police officers and staff who have previously provided Ozbox sessions to youngsters aged 7-15 at a Langley Mill Community Group event.
