Police commissioner takes part in community door-knock to find out about local crime

Holmebrook and Rother Door-Knock

Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Charles took part in a community walkabout in Holmebrook and Rother to see for himself the issues facing local residents.

Commissioner Charles joined the local Safer Neighbourhood Team and officers and councillors from Chesterfield Borough Council, Derbyshire County Council, Chesterfield Borough Council Housing and Community Rangers for the event.

The area has reported recent incidents of anti-social behaviour and the Commissioner took part in a door-knocking exercise to chat to householders about the problems in the community during which he saw road-related anti-social behaviour in action. Council officers and police will now collate the information gathered during the event to devise a plan of action.

Commissioner Charles said: “This walkabout was a great way of meeting local residents and understanding their concerns, which were backed up by real life examples while myself and the rest of the team were walking around the community.

“Partnership working really is key to delivering solutions and opportunities such as these where we are all able to come together for a few hours in the very place where the problems are happening ensures that our approach is more cohesive.

“I would like to thank all those who took part in the walkabout for sharing their time and giving me a deeper insight into what issues need addressing here.”
