Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Charles is to take part in a community walk-about aimed at making people feel safer.
Commissioner Charles will join councillors from the Boulton Ward in Derby to carry out a citizen patrol in the area to learn more about the way local residents and their council representatives are helping to reduce the fear of crime in the community.
Commissioner Charles will meet the patrol group at 6pm at Bestwick Car Park, on the corner of Osmaston Road and Whittington Street in Allenton. The walk-about is due to finish at 8pm.
The Commissioner is keen to support efforts by ordinary local people to increase safety in their communities and provide residents with peace of mind, saying that the people who volunteer their time in this way make a huge contribution to community safety. Such measures also act as a deterrent for offenders.
Members of the media are invited to attend the event and there will be an opportunity for photography.
