Derbyshire’s first Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Charles is to take part in a community walkabout in the Normanton and Pear Tree area on Friday 30 November, an event that has been rearranged from last week.
At the time he said: “The last time I talked with the residents was during the election campaign when I listened to what they had to say about antisocial behaviour issues in their neighbourhoods. Now that I am their elected representative it’s time to start the ball rolling.
“I’ll be asking for latest information about what’s going on so that we can find the local solutions they need.” He will be accompanied by local Councillors including Cllr Gulfraz Nawaz and some local PCSOs. They will start outside Pak Foods in Normanton Road at 2.00pm.
“Residents have a right to live and work in peace without having to worry about unacceptable antisocial behaviour,” Mr Charles pointed out. “These are the kind of ‘on the ground’ issues that I’ll be working hard to resolve by teaming up with local partners and tapping into their knowledge and resources.”
He went on: “I received a very warm welcome from the residents during the election campaign and I’ll be delighted to meet them again with a view to getting down to business.”
