Derbyshire’s first Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Charles will be once again on community walkabout in the Normanton and Pear Tree area on Wednesday 21 November, the day before he officially takes office.
“The last time I talked with the residents was during the election campaign when I listened to what they had to say about antisocial behaviour issues in their neighbourhoods,” he said. “Now that I am their elected representative it’s time to start the ball rolling.
“I’ll be asking for latest information about what’s going on so that we can find the local solutions they need.” As before, he will be accompanied by Councillors Gulfraz Nawaz and Hardyal Dhindsa. All three will start their walkabout outside Pak Foods in Normanton Road at 1.30pm.
“Residents have a right to live and work in peace without having to worry about unacceptable antisocial behaviour,” Mr Charles pointed out. “These are the kind of ‘on the ground’ issues that I’ll be working hard to resolve by teaming up with local partners and tapping into their knowledge and resources.”
He went on: “I received a very warm welcome from the residents during the election campaign and I’ll be delighted to meet them again with a view to getting down to business.”
