“At Christmas time our hopes for the festivities and the New Year so often turn to peace, health and happiness.
Three simple wishes but very important to everyone.
That’s why, as 2013 approaches, I am resolved to do all I can to further reduce crime in Derbyshire. Where crime occurs, peace, health and happiness are almost invariably put in jeopardy.
So, as one year ends and another begins, I continue to go about learning from our communities around the county about what needs to be done to achieve a safer Derbyshire. By sharing your experiences with me I will be better equipped to make your voices heard as our police and partners work together to tackle crime.
Since being elected as your Police and Crime Commissioner I have seen time and again that we all need to work together to continue to keep Derbyshire safe. In 2013, I shall keep to the pledges I made in my manifesto. They include standing up and speaking out for vulnerable people, and working hard to ensure that community policing retains its central role in protecting Derbyshire people from all categories of crime and social nuisance.
As the festivities over the next few weeks gather pace I hope that all our communities share my wish for peace and harmony, so that we can enjoy a safe and happy time.
I wish you all a happy and peaceful festive season.”
